The Idea

The “Ukraine Matters” Initiative has been launched by the Ukraine-based Non-Governmental Organization  “Sustainable Development Landmarks” (Ivano-Frankivsk). The main goal of the Organization is to ensure the implementation of the global strategy of Sustainable Development in various spheres of life by protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, meeting their interests, and promoting the development of civil society and democracy.

Understanding that Sustainable Development is impossible without peace (!) and referring to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, we claim that Ukraine protecting the whole civilized world from the cynical Kremlin regime needs the ultimate support and help! We claim that UKRAINE DOES MATTER MUCH, despite all the Russian propaganda statements! We wish we could come back to the former important problems of developing a democratic Ukrainian society, but this time our extensive grant-writing and fundraising activity aims at finding opportunities to help our country survive and remain on the political map of the world.

The suggested mostly English-speaking events within the framework of the launched Initiative will address our close foreign friends and numerous would-be friends lacking some knowledge of Ukraine and its national character and hesitating to support it. We’ll do our best to make the most of the ZOOM-based online and hybrid activities in order to dispel any doubts that UKRAINE MATTERS

The Initiative was supported by the Ukraine-based NGO “Centre for Communication Research”. Since its establishment on May 30, 2017, the educational and social aspects of regional development have become the main spheres of its activities. Focusing on the topics of Media Literacy, Academic Integrity, and Gender Equality, the Organization has implemented a number of Projects: “Transformation of the Ukrainian Society: The Value of Academic Integrity” (IREX; 2019), English for Media Literacy” (IREX; 2020-2021), “Ivano-Frankivsk in the Eyes of Foreigners” (2021), “Ukrainian War Response Grant” (Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights; June-August 2022), etc.
